Best time to visit Bali

Ayu Melalie

We launched and tested the application in vibrant Bali. Bali (usually) attracts a lot of visitors, many eager to explore the island, and was, therefore, the perfect location to get started.

Like most tropical islands, Bali has a dry and wet season and for all of us who can’t get enough of the sunshine, the dry season is the best time to go!

Bali is the busiest in July and August at the peak of the summer holiday and in December around Christmas and New Year. The most rainfall is also in December but it doesn’t stop people from flying over to Bali for a magical Christmas celebration and a kick-ass New Year party.

Dry Season

The dry season begins in April and lasts until October. The sea is cooler in these happy months, the air is less humid and temperatures cool down during the night.

Wet Season

The wet season is from November to March and it usually peaks in December. The rainy season isn’t all bad. Yes, there will be rain but it won’t be all day! You can expect some heavy rainfall for short periods of time spread out over the day - mostly in the early morning and in the afternoon. There are plenty of hours to enjoy the sunshine and go swim, surf or whatever. Just be prepared, bring a raincoat and you’re good to go.

The best time to go?

We’d say dry season outside of the peak season in April, May, June, and September, October - before and right after the high season - these are the best months to go to Bali. There will be little rain, fewer tourists and lower prices on tours, accommodation, and transport. On top of that, tourist sites will be less crowded and the water of the sea also tends to be cleaner and clearer for those wanting to go surfing, snorkeling, and diving.

However, December equals epic New Year’s parties and yes, Santa also makes his way to Bali for those travelling with kids. However, one must be prepared for some rain! Having said that, if you are an adventurer who likes to go rafting - you may want to consider going in the wet season as the river is wilder and the rafting is definitely more fun and challenging. Waterfalls are also more impressive to see in the rainy season.

Long story short, any time is a good time to go to Bali you just need to be well-informed and be prepared :)
